Benjamin Hummitzsch è un giovane e talentuoso pittore tedesco che gioca con le linee sinuose del corpo umano, in particolare quello femminile, e il puro colore, creando stimoli visivi ed emozionali di grande impatto. I suoi dipinti sono futuristici, intesi come una mutazione dell'uomo che in un prossimo futuro si combinerà con forme e colori, secondo la sua visione, dando vita ad una nuova specie.
I am a 29 year old painter born in Berlin, living and working in Dresden, Germany.
This summer I got my diploma and now I'm in the post-graduated class of Professor Ralf Kerbach as we call it "Meisterschüler" (masterstudent) for two more years at HfBK Dresden.

Sono un pittore di ventinove anni, nato a Berlino ma vivo e lavoro a Dresda, in Germania .
Questa estate mi sono diplomato e ora sono nella classe post-laurea del professor Ralf Kerbach, all'università delle belle arti HFBK Dresda e ne avrò per altri due anni.
When did you discover your passion for painting?
When I was a little boy I love to draw. This passion never stops, but while studying art and painting the colour became more and more important. Altough the graphic or the line is still a big part in every painting and I'll try to mix colour and line for more complexity. It never stops developing (I hope so).
Quando hai scoperto il tuo amore per la pittura?
Mi piace disegnare da quando ero un ragazzino. Questa passione non è mai svanita, ma man mano che studiavo l'arte e la pittura, il colore è diventato sempre più importante. Benché la grafica o le linee siano ancora una parte importante in ogni dipinto, io cerco di mescolarvi il colore per una maggiore complessità . La mia pittura non smette mai di evolversi (almeno lo spero).
What does the art of painting mean for you?
Entirly freedom in creation and personal fulfilment.
It frees my mind but at the same time I'm very focused what I am doing. Its like an undertow into a different world. Could be extremely addictive.
Rappresenta la totale libertà personale nella creazione e realizzazione .
Mentre dipingo, la mia mente è libera, ma, allo stesso, tempo sono molto concentrato in quello che sto facendo. E' estremamente coinvolgente.
How much natural gift and how much studying and preparation is there in your case?
My parents are both artists, so there is a little thought about have been gifted naturally. But mainly, its studying and preparation, especially for the issue in my paintings in the last 3 years.
Nel tuo caso, quanto c'è di predisposizione naturale e quanto di studio e preparazione?
I miei genitori sono entrambi artisti, per cui presumo che vi sia una componente di predisposizione naturale o, per lo meno, acquisita. Ma è lo studio che maggiormente compone i miei dipinti, soprattutto negli ultimi tre anni, vi è stata una costante evoluzione dovuta a una maggiore maturazione e preparazione.

The social media is one part of the self-marketing. It means, if you running your own business its a good way to spread your work all over the world. You reach so much more people with it. At the moment, the internet is the most important tool to support your advertising.
On the other hand I really enjoy the real social communication, like word-of-mouth advertising and still talk to people in exhibitions and vernissages. It's more authentic.
So if I have news to make or advertising, the internet is the first choice. Followed by fylers and word-of-mouth advertising.

Il social media sono molto importanti per il self-marketing; se una persona ha un'attività, è un buon modo per diffondere il proprio lavoro in tutto il mondo. Si può raggiunge davvero molta più gente che con qualsiasi altro sistema. Attualmente, Internet è lo strumento più importante per farsi pubblicità .
D'altra parte, io amo la vera comunicazione sociale, come il passaparola, oppure parlare direttamente con la gente a mostre e vernissage. Trovo che sia più autentico .
Dunque, se devo fare pubblicità o comunicare qualche evento, Internet è la prima scelta, seguito da volantini e passaparola .
I was one of five founders of "Pluralprojekt". Briefly, we invented the project to put more attention to the link between art and other disciplines like science, music, writing and so on.
The plan was that the participants link thereselfs and work together. For example a painter and a microbiologist. Well at least to have them an exchange of information and inspiration. So for one month we rent an exhibiton hall in Berlin having a changing exhibition every week with special events, lectures and music at the weekends. All croudfunded and sponsored.
So che nel 2013 sei stato il fondatore del progetto “Plurale”. Ce ne puoi parlare e spiegarci in cosa consiste?
Sono stato uno dei cinque fondatori di "Pluralprojekt". In breve , il progetto aveva l'obbiettivo di porre maggiore attenzione al legame tra arte e altre discipline come la scienza, musica , scrittura e così via .
Il piano prevedeva che i partecipanti fossero tra loro collegati e lavorassero assieme, come ad esempio un pittore e un microbiologo, così da avere uno scambio di informazioni e ispirazione. Abbiamo affittato, per un mese, una sala mostra a Berlino e ogni fine settimana si cambiavano gli eventi con conferenze e musica durante i fine settimana .
What do you see in your future?
The question is a little bit funny, because I want to put the future in my art and actually I'm doing my hypothetic, futuristic paintings.
Anyway there are no big plans of fame and museums. I just hope the art of painting accompanied me in my entire life.

Cosa vedi nel tuo futuro?
La domanda è appropriata, perché voglio mettere proprio il futuro nella mia arte; in realtà io sto realizzando dei dipinti futuristici.
In ogni caso, per il mio futuro, non ho grandi progetti di diventare famoso o di entrare in qualche museo. Spero solo che l'arte della pittura mi accompagni per tutta la vita
Almost all of your paintings represent a female figure. What’s the reason behind it?
Its not intended. Maybe its because of most of the models of my drawings and sketches are female. But actually there are a lot of male and asexual figures I'm working with.

Quasi tutti i tuoi dipinti hanno come soggetto una figura femminile. Ci sveli il motivo?
Non é voluto. E' una casulità che la maggior parte dei modelli dei miei disegni e schizzi siano donne. In effetti, ci sono anche molte figure maschili e asessuate.
No its commen, I often heard people in exhibitons saying there are disgusting or unpleasant parts in the paintings and then there are extremely fascinating and beautiful locations too. I really enjoy that. Because there is a schizophrenic point between ugiyness and beauty. In this case my works are very ambivalent.
So I'll try to create something contemplative, offensive and indeed something beautiful for posterity. That they'll be wondering in the future.
Adoro i tuoi quadri: i loro colori intensi, la tecnica particolare e del tutto personale che utilizzi, tuttavia, li trovo leggermente inquietanti. Le figure che disegni, sembrano soggette a un disgregamento della materia, oppure, dal loro corpo, si sviluppano delle protuberanze non ben definite. Si tratta soltanto di una mia particolare sensibilità oppure è un sentire comune? E' quanto vuoi trasmettere con la tua arte e, in questo caso, ci puoi motivare il tuo intento?
E' una sensazione comune; ho sentito spesso, durante alcune mostre, che si diceva di alcune parti dei dipinti erano disgustose o sgradevoli e altre estremamente piacevoli. Questo mi piace molto. Perché voglio rappresentare il brutto e il bello. In questo caso le mie opere sono molto ambivalenti.
Quindi cercherò di creare qualcosa di contemplativo, offensivo e in effetti qualcosa di bello per i posteri.

"Aponekrose"
Its a not intended transformation in something new, whether its good or bad - we dont know yet. And almost always a metamorphosis comes a long with pain.

Its about a being finding itself in a laboratory tank as an objekt of science and trails. The being is an experiment of creating a new undestructible skin surface. For a life in outer space.

"The transmission of permanent injencted facile optimism"
In this painting I worked with the little bacteria E.Coli. The surface of the two figures consists of it. Its about a life in symbiosis with the little cause of epedemic diseases. Its hope, solace and naivety.

Alveoli are the little bubbles in ours lungs. Its about pronounced dyspnea caused by a disease, although the whole surface of the body is filled with these lung-bubbles. In airily and nice enviroment.

Its about epigenetics. The adaption in a new surrounding caused by environmental conditions.

Rappresenta qualcosa che è destinato a trasformarsi in qualcosa di nuovo, se buono o cattivo, non lo sappiamo ancora . E, quasi sempre, una metamorfosi avviene con un lungo con dolore.

Il soggetto è un prodotto di laboratorio. Oggetto della scienza è creare una superfice epiteliale indistruttibile, per una vita all'eterno dello spazio.

In questo dipinto ho lavorato con piccolissimi batteri E.Coli . La superficie delle due figure ne sono ricoperte per rappresentare una vita in simbiosi con la malattie epidermiche, nell'intento di manifestare speranza e conforto.

Gli alveoli sono le piccole cavità dei nostri polmoni. Il soggetto del quadro ne è ricoperto per l'intera superficie del corpo. Volevo trasmettere la sensazione di un ambiente aerato e piacevole.

In questo dipinto, il tema è l'epigenetica ; l'adattamento in un nuovo ambiente causato da mutazioni condizioni.

Preferisco sempre le mie opere più recenti perché esprimono una maggiore maturazione. Per cui vado in ordine di tempo.
